Department of Mathematics

Mathematics is the art of reasoning and problem solving and is a discipline that examines the properties of concepts such as numbers and geometric shapes and the connections between them through deductive and inductive thinking. Since everything scientific requires a mathematical formulation, Mathematics is an indispensable tool of science and technology. The aim of the program, within the framework of the founding law of Karabük University, is to train qualified personnel with high professional qualifications, who can follow international scientific developments and conduct scientific research in their field, as well as, starting from the fact that mathematics and mathematical thought system are needed in almost every field of life, in scientific research, It aims to graduate individuals who have internalized the mathematical knowledge and thought system needed in economy, industry, education, in short, business life. There are a total of 6 divisions in the Department of Mathematics: Algebra and Number Theory, Geometry, Analysis and Functions Theory, Topology, Fundamentals of Mathematics and Mathematics Logic and Applied Mathematics. Graduates of the program can become teachers in public and private schools affiliated with the Ministry of National Education if they receive pedagogical formation training, or in private teaching institutions affiliated with the Ministry of National Education without receiving pedagogical formation training; While they can work as faculty members or assistants in relevant departments of universities, they can also work in public and private institutions and organizations, especially in information technology centers/departments.
